*"News Sites Love McCain....[and on] Blogs McCain Is Catching Up By Going Negative.
"McCain's speeches and position statements appear on traditional news sites 80 percent more often than Obama's. And on the sites of the major TV networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox), McCain has a 3 to 1 advantage. (This ratio should come down with the Democratic convention this week).
What is behind McCain's surge? One factor is negative attacks on Obama, such as the Paris Hilton ad or John Corsi's propaganda book. "

Re: Bloggers HELP! (none / 0)

Yep, I hope MyDD folks would please put up a post or two on those sites. Just so someone sees that there are some of there fellow readers of their favorite news source who think Obama is an acceptable choice.

Try it, it is Fun!

It's just like the Primary days on MyDD, Post and see what happens! Lots of fire and passion!

Re: I found your problem (none / 0)

I agree put your self in their shoes.
A thought exercise:
You are a person going to USA Today for your news.
This is exactly the same as you going to MyDD or where ever your news source is. Therefore you respect those opinions the same way you respect these opinions. So you see a story about McCain like : "McCain Prison Cross Story is plagiarized"  and you see 60 posts with no decent. You might believe it with out fact checking.

They all have dial up and live in redstates? (none / 0)

I even still have my old AOL email addresses.  :)

I have not checked them in a long while tho.

Re: On AOL (2.00 / 2)

That is my point. Blog at AOL then!  If we want to grow the party and win we should be commenting there. We must not just be talking to ourselves and navel gazing.

I use MyDD when I was considering bringing up Carol McCain. I got good advice.  But I think active campaigners for Obama should use MyDD like a football huddle and then go out the wide field a play!
We aren't going to win if we don't:
1) Beat the Swift Boat attacks: Have the truth out there every where it is easy to access.

Obama is being Swift Boated... Ayers, Islamic, I saw a Jihad accusation today, Black Muslim... Any of these ideas placed in front of voter with out a rebuttal could be a lost vote.
Not to start a discussion, but what are we doing differently to create a different outcome?

2)Do not let McCain own the "Safe Choice" narrative. Sow some equivalent, but factual doubts about McCain: Lobbyist influence,  Failed Marriage, Likely to die in office (look at a life insurance amortization table), Misstatemens that he doesn't notice (Iraq/Afghan boarder, President Putin of Germany etc), Doesn't understand the Internets, More taxes (get rid of employee health care tax exemption!)

3) Get our positive message out. Lower taxes, health care, end the war, get Bin Laden

Re: On AOL (none / 0)

My goal is that there is a least ONE rebuttal / pro-Obama post on the first page of comments.

I am not talking about trying to match the anti Obama noise 1-1, just adding a few pro-Obama comments so people can see there is not unanimity among their fellow readers in suspecting Obama AND feeling the MSM is pro Obama while the public is anti Obama.

An entire page of comments can be all negative, especially for pro-Obama articles.

Thanks... Sorry to be evangelizing here. If you look at these blog/comment pages you may start to share my zeal.

Do a little post on AOL or USA today!
See what reaction you get.. it's fun.

That stood our for me in the top 3 moments of the convention!

Are you sure it's not a big ol time suck? (2.00 / 1)

If someone can demonstrate to me that it's worth it, I'll do it.  Personally the comments there strike me as a bit nutty, and yes, they are overwhelmingly pro-McCain.

Does it matter?

by Jordache on Thu Aug 28, 2008 at 01:49:25 AM EST

Re: Are you sure it's not a big ol time suck? (none / 0)

Thanks for asking!
Yes I think it matters, this is why see if you agree:

1) There are 11+ Million eyes there, so even if one in 1000 are effected that means something. And lots of them are probably Independent voters!

2) I am asking because I post there so much I look like a spammer. I can't take different user IDs I want to be able to be sincere.

3) It's the unanimity that is troubling me. You have to see it to believe it.
The problem I see is this...
A thought exercise:
You are a person going to USA Today for your news.
This is exactly the same as you going to MyDD or where ever your news source is. Therefore you respect those opinions the same way you respect these opinions. I'm confused! (none / 0)

Who is Will Blog and why are you polling to see if we support him?

Re: I'm confused! (none / 0)

Thanks for the correction, sorry, I am not a great writer. That's another reason I could use your help! You are good with the word things! ;)

Is it really confusing? Or are you just pointing out the mistake of capitalizing 'Will'.

I used the poll to see if anyone here would help, I didn't want anyone to have waste time to post.  I thought people like clicking radio buttons and that would create a commitment to act.

I am sincerely worried.
The unanimity of the negative posts drives negative must influence ABC, USA Today and CBS. Then Dems will ignore the sights and they will devolve into Fox like ABC News seems to be.

The way to stop polarization is to mingle!

Look guys... remember how MyDD was full of fights don't you miss that a little?
Go out to the MSM and post a innocent fact about Obama like he was born in the United States of America and watch what happens!

Re: I'm confused! (none / 0)

Haha no need to apologize... I was the one being a smartass.

I used to post on Yahoo news all the time back in '06-'07 but seeing that type of negative, grating, horrible commentary all of the time truly can't be good for you.  I'm not looking for an echo chamber, but I also have absolutely no interest in going back and forth with the fringe elements of both parties over the big issue of whether Obama is the Manchurian candidate or not.

You're much braver than I in dealing with those types.

Re: Bloggers HELP! McCain beats Obama 3 to 1 (none / 0)

BTW: Why isn't McCain the Manchurian candidate anyway? He is the one who was under the control of a hostile foreign government for 5+ years?

Re: Bloggers HELP! McCain beats Obama 3 to 1 (none / 0)

Exactly. Communist and ex-communist governments will know about how McCan't then we will. They had 5 years to pick apart his brain.

they do this for a living (2.00 / 1)

Will I get my Obama personally monogrammed his & her bathroom towel set?

We all know why they're doing it.  The Republicans are shameless, and the vast majority on the far right are borderline insane.  Let the 101st Keyboard Brigade have their fun and collect their payola.  I don't see why I should go out of my way to take hours out of my time to interact with them.

by hello world on Thu Aug 28, 2008 at 07:28:14 AM EST

Re: they do this for a living (none / 0)

Thanks for the response.
Yes I agree: Do NOT engage.

1) The point is to provide some alternate view, for those who are just looking at the article, not  the bloggers.
It is just easy to cut and past a few one liners.

2) The unanimity of the anti Obama sentiment is what I think is damaging. The fact there is no one saying, "That's not true, here is a link : fightthesmears.com" It is literally true that entire first pages of comments are all "Obama is Muslim".

3)I am not suggesting engaging with the slander posters. There is no converting them and it would be a huge waste of time to try.

If you visit these sites I think you might feel some of the urgency that I do.

One note: IMHO: These folks are not paid by the GOP... I think there is a wide range. Some are just really threatened by a person who's name is "non Christian" and is from a different ethnic group.
