No More

OK.

We are past the primary.
We are past the nomination.
We are past the VP selection.
The Clintons have given great speeches.
Love and admiration has been shown towards both Hillary and Bill.

This is it.

This is the point in which diaries sowing disunity and specious arguments need to stop and/or be removed. There needs to be (gasp) moderation on the blog.

This blog can become a blog aimed towards electing the Democrats, or it can fall into another "PUMA" blog that will evolve towards more Michelle Obama rape fantasies (and that is NOT an exaggeration of what is happening elsewhere)

We are past the point of no return. No one will miss me if I leave and as a threat it is a pretty wimpy threat. But I humbly ask that the moderators, moderate, I no longer have time to haunt places that will put up with additional crap. Wheat from the chaff.

As a PS I wish to acknowledge and bestow great gratitude towards those that have used this convention to listen to those they have supported and have lived up to their promises and listened to their heats. There are some fine fine diaries addressing this.

I agree (2.00 / 3)

Popping back in to see how the site moves on from the primary wars now that things are finally as settled as they're ever going to be, outside of individual therapy. Completely agree with this diary.

Its time to look forward to November, and stop looking back towards the past. Its up to the moderators to enforce the rules of this site.

Re: I agree (2.00 / 1)

It's time.  When George W. Bush was elected, I was asleep at the switch.  I asked myself the question of how much damage can Bush do in 4 years?   Well now we know...in 4 years, Bush had us in Iraq, set in motion the policies that undermine the progress that the previous Clinton administration made on the economy.  In the last 4 years, Bush worked harder to undermine our values regarding the constitution and the cautious use of military force around the world.

We can not, we must not, allow John McCain the opportunity to screw up things further by following the Bush path.

John McCain, might even be worse.  He has watched the lesson of the Bush mistakes...but continues to push his policies.

Re: No More (2.00 / 1)

unfortunately around here "specious arguments" means ones some here cannot answer honestly so they are HR'ed instead. Policies are a valid issue and they are not binary, there are shades of grey and shouting inarticulate orders to everyone else surley is no answer.

Re: No More (2.00 / 1)

Depends on what you mean by "sowing disunity." This is a Democratic blog, if we aren't criticising our nominee then we aren't really Democrats.

Re: No More (1.50 / 2)

This is a Democratic blog, if we aren't criticising our nominee then we aren't really Democrats.

The more we criticize our Democratic candidates, the more Democratic we are.  Therefore, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage and Sean Hannity are the most Democratic of all.

You are so precious.

Re: No More (none / 0)

blueAZ is profoundly observant, and I mojo the astute the satirical truth. I've had my fill of specious 'criticism' of our candidate, concern over his 'empty-suitedness' and chagrin at his 'impure progressivity' and his risky 'non-combativeness'.

I suggest to those who find it to be their solemn civic blog-duty to piss on our parade and spoil what should be a joyous celebration of the end of the Bush regime that they go elsewhere to vent and spew.

I say we get this party started and treat the wet-blankets among us to a copious dose of doughnuts (it would be fine if we could just ignore the Debbie Downers, but that never works). Show them the door, I say.

Re: No More (2.00 / 1)

Hi blueAZ, welcome to MyDD. I hope you have enjoyed your first couple of days here. Some of us have been here since Jerome reopened in 2004, some go back to the years before Jerome closed shop for the Dean campaign. But most of us come here for spirited debate, even when it was front pagers viciously attacking John Kerry for strategic errors in 2004, and just about every other Democratic candidate and elected official since then. Most of us respect our fellow posters and assume they wish the best for the Democratic party and our country, though few hold back and the insults can fly thick and fast.

Even in the darkest days of the primary Jerome worked hard to maintain a diverse set of voices among the members of this blog. I hope and expect he will continue to do so.

Really?  Was this when all the pro-Obama posters lost rate/rec or during the time that the rec list was filled with diaries calling Obama an uppity, gay, communist, secret muslim with terrorist ties?

I've been here for a while and I know who you are.  You have no cred or moral authority by claiming you've been here for a long time.  You are nothing but a troll.  You and your bitter friends just want to crap on our parade and ruin it for everyone else.  You have so much pain and hate in your heart you feel the need to share it with everyone else.

Re: No More (2.00 / 1)

Sorry, I think that comment was misdirected.  You don't fall into the category of people it describes (but there are some of them still here).

I've spent too much time and energy troll-hunting here and sometimes my hair-trigger goes off and an old man gets a shotgun blast in his face.

See, it's that hair trigger that gets people banned. Thanks for noticing I'm not in the Rush/Coulter category.

The vitriol is misplaced, but the poster is dead on regarding this site's history.  Your talk of Jerome's yeomanlike work mainting a diverse set of voices is profoundly naive.

Re: No More (none / 0)

So now we need 'seniority'? Well, blueAZ seems to be one of those gifted individuals who has hit the ground running, recognizing and pointing out the plain fact that one cannot successfully disguise a pig with lipstick.

Re: No More (2.00 / 1)

Nah, you only need seniority if you are going to go off half-cocked attacking other members and the site. If you joined just to attack people you're a troll.

Is he YOUR nominee? (none / 0)

By that, I mean are you supporting him against McCain?

Do you have his back?

Re: Is he YOUR nominee? (2.00 / 1)

I have Obama's back, his front and both sides. I wouldn't support McCain even if he personally hunted down Osama bin Laden and made Al Gore his VP.

I'm a big Bill and Hillary Clinton person, and I'll be annoyed if Obama doesn't use them to win this damn thing, but in the end I'll be one of the happiest people on the planet to see Barack Obama taking the oath of office on January 20th, 2009.

MyDD allows differing opinions (2.00 / 3)

Nobody wants a echo-chamber here, so no, I disagree with this diary.

by Chelsea in 2020 on Wed Aug 27, 2008 at 11:54:10 PM EST

Re: No More (2.00 / 2)

there is plenty of room for disagreement without disunity. there is plenty of room for expressing your view without becoming an echo chamber.

There is little room for accepting that people with a history of nothing but criticism, or continuing to advocate for candidates who have withdrawn at the expense of the candidate who is running.

Yeah, issues fine, as long as you actual bring more than negativity to the table. At this point if you say "I will never vote for Obama" and continue to do so I think you need to move on somewhere else for those views.

I think Bill Clinton put it best (none / 0)

a few years back, (and I am paraphrasing).

As Democrats, we tend to fall in love with our candidates. Its okay to fall in love, but now (after the convention) its time to fall in line.

(back to me) Our criticism needs to be focus on the repugs. We can go back to attacking our own AFTER WE ARE ACTUALLY GOVERNING!

Re: No More (none / 0)

Nobody can undo what has been done.

But trying to play partisan 20-20 hindsight is such a waste of effort and really good malice when John McCain looms on the horizon, a target so much sweeter and  juicier and easier for the truly malicious  and sarcastic and cynical of mind than any of the  relative policy wonk stiffs in pants or pantsuits who ran in the  D primary. Even Mittens is stiffer than them though, another target of wonderful opportunity. And rudi is back! And Conn Joe. Think of the wonderful opportunities still before you!And go for them!
